abejas adult league

here are some pictures of our 2nd game abejas vs deja-vu .though we lost this game 2-0 we played a phyiscal game a tough game for both sides.the abejas is mix of young players and some veteran players by this i mean over half of our team is playing in this league for the first time.and they are young most players are under the age of 14. so i'd like to take a minute to thank our veterans for taking these young ladies and working with them i know that this is a challenge but what would a team be without one so thank you go's out to jessica-maria-paula-nereida-lori-angi-imelda-hilary. our season just beginning and were sitting in the middle of the pack.it's going to get good down the stretch. for the abejas are getting better as a team and were getting healthy for we had a few injurys and we had few players out but were all back now and that means that everybodys excited and ready to go.play hard abejas play to win above all have fun.the abejas are as follows. jessica salas-maria moreno-imelda guzman-hilary pederson-paula alarcon-angela vargas-erica ramos-crystal lopez-lucero botelo-hoy lim-kristie galindo-reyna ceron-nereida alvarez-suhie calderon-jimena marulfo-nelli arreola-venessa ybarra-lori buendia-and anna

June 7-8, 2008 - Abejas U-14 at Wichita Tournament

The Abejas U-14 team went to Wichita for a two day tournament. Most of us drove out Friday afternoon and spent the night at the Garden Inn hotel. This is a badly run and maintained hotel - don't go there in the future ;( At least the girls were able to relax in the pool for a couple of hours. On Saturday the team played two games. The first game was against ??? and we were blown out 0-??? The girls were rather bummed out. The second afternoon game was against ??? and the girls were starting to fight back; losing 2-5 in the end. The team shook off most of the disappointment by playing pi-donkey-donk (sp?) in the hotel pool.

The next day (Sunday) we played our last game against ???. This was a very close and exciting game. Although the other team had 65-70% time possession, they simply could not get past the Abejas' defense. Very impressive. We were tied 0-0 at the half. The Abejas came out even stronger during the second half and there was a more balanced time of possession between the two teams. Unfortunately ??? scored a goal and we lost 0-1 in the end. The team deserves a good round of applause for a great fight and a good game. Here are a few pictures I took during the first half; my battery died during the second half ;( If you would like a quality print, let Coach know and I will send him the hi-res pictures to print.

I would like to thank all the parents who helped transport the girls to/from the games and also providing them rides back home.

May 31, 2008 - Abejas U-10 (0) vs ??? (1)

The Abejas made it to the championship round, playing against ??? for third place! Unfortunately we had to forfeit the game because only 5 players showed up :-( Instead of being a real game, both teams agreed to play a friendly game. Stephan (Deanna's brother) played goalie so both teams had the same number of players on the field. It was nice to see Deanna be more aggressive this game and go after the ball.
